I absolutely loved the way that this dress turned out! This was orginally designed as a halter dress, but I wanted to wear the dress to church so I added sleeves. Every step of the way, I made mistakes, but figured out how to fix them. The first major mistake was sewing a french seam in the back side of the top rather than a regular seam because once I did this, I did not want to undo the seam--lazy. This meant sewing in a side zipper rather than a back zipper. In the end, this ended up being okay because of the bow that the ties created on the side--which I love. I am not sure how this would have worked out for the back--in a way that I was pleased with anyway.

Then, with adding the sleeves, this presented a huge problem--especially for me since I just started sewing. There was no "top" for the sleeves to connect to. I took me a while to figure out how to close it when the top was essentially the side bow. This took a very small stroke of genius. I should also say that I purposely made the curve extend out more so that it was less like a halter and more like a sleeveless dress--if that makes sense.
I added the zipper to the side and sleeves which meant that I needed to pull the dress over my head. I thought, "here we go again". All in all, I figured the measurements out and it all worked out--slipped over my head without messing up my "do".
I cannot say enough how much I loved this dress. It felt so good on!
