This dress is perfect for an elegant date night or even an upscale party or event. It can certainly be dressed up with shoes and accessories. Unfortunately, the pictures of the dress aren't that great and does not do the dress or the fabric any justice, but you can see it a little--especially in the last picture.

This was the first time I made this pattern and I fell in love with it for so many reasons. I used a scuba fabric from Hancock's that has a beautiful print to it. When I saw it, I knew that I immediately had to have it. This fabric was perfect for this look because of the shape of the sleeves and needed a little structure to it to stand up. The sleeves took a little while for me to figure out, but I was able to. Wearing the dress the second time around made me go and attach the underlining strip to the sleeve by hand sewing. The strips would flap down and I hated that look.

I followed all of the instructions on this one, only making the skirt a little longer, about five inches longer. I like below knee to midi lengths when I can find them. I added a generous split to the back of the skirt as well. Other than that, here you have it.

I wonder what other variations I could make with this...
