I can absolutely say that I love this blue denim dress! I did not anticipate that I would love the details like I do, but I love it. It is the perfect length for such a dress and the fabric turned out to be pretty great too! I made one small change in the construction of the garment and I will tell you more about that later.
Fabric: I used a flocked denim from Hancock Fabrics that I got on sale earlier this year. The flocked pattern on the denim is similar to a hound's-tooth pattern. The denim sewed very well. As you can see in the pictures, it wrinkles quite a bit. It has a great amount of stretch in it.

Pattern: I used the DKNY Vogue 1313 pattern and cut a size 16. I sewed the pattern as is with the exception of the length of the dress. I added about an inch and a half to the length of the dress. The pattern had a lot of topstitching which was a nice element throughout the dress. I did not finish it at first wear because I ran out of thread. I did the topstitching everywhere with the exception of the front bottom skirt. I believe that it would have been too thick with the seams for my machine.
The pattern had facings that turned out really nicely. I normally hate facings, but these turned out nicely. I used the fabric for the pockets instead of the lining. Therefore, I eliminated lining the pockets with fabrics.
