Overall: Well, what can you say about my denim obsession that is going on now! I am just loving it! I have this tencel denim shirt with this off-white quilted fabric skirt. This skirt is old (I never posted about it), but when I finished this shirt, I thought this would be a great combination. Overall, I love the way this shirt turned out. I plan to make another one the way I initially envisioned it--with elastic at the end of the sleeve gathered to make put sleeves. I will need to make the sleeves longer to my liking though.
Fabric for the Shirt: I used this 4.5 ounce Blue Tencel Denim from #MoodFabrics for my shirt. I envisioned this shirt when I ordered the fabric. I was hoping that it was light in weight enough for the bow to drape to my liking and not be hot in the summer at the same time. All-in-all, I really want to order some more of this stuff. I have a cute summer dress in mind that would go great with some flat sandals.

Fabric for the Skirt: I could not find the exact type of fabric I used on Jo-Ann's website, but that is where got it from toward the end of the winter season. I did not line the skirt, so it is appropriate for the summer. I was inspired to make a long circle skirt like this one from StylePantry. I am still planning to tackle a similar outfit because her style is amazing!

Pattern for the Shirt: I used Vogue 8772 to create most of the shirt, which is a pretty common pattern. This shirt is super simple to make. It's really a no-brainier, even for a beginner with a tad bit of experience like myself. I don't have a serger at this point, so that is the only thing that gives me problems. I also ran into one little snag, the facing for the shirt gave me the impression that it should be folded over twice to hide the raw edge, but when I tried it on like that, it did not cover my breasts. Sooo, I unfolded it once which left a raw edge. I then took some 1/4 inch double-sided binding tape to finish the edge. It turned out fine and no one would know the difference.
Pattern For the Sleeves: I used a vintage pattern (S5489) for the sleeves that had three beautiful tucks in these wide sleeves. I only inserted one. I will make this dress, but I thought these sleeves would be great for the summer for this shirt. I love it. I love frilly and girly things!

Pattern For the Skirt: I used The Jenny Skirt (B6058) for the basic skirt that I am wearing. I made this some time ago and I still love it. God blessed me with a significant rear, so the zipper puckers in the back. If you have any advice on how to stop this, please let me know. I would appreciate it. I wanted to do an exposed zipper on this, so rather than sewing the back seam, I just inserted a 24" exposed zipper. To date, I would have loved to use the same color zipper. The black contrast is not my favorite, but in the length it was all that was available.
