Greetings! I made this red peplum vest and wanted to share it with you. I have been working on it for a while now and finally was able to finish it. The vest was finished a couple of weeks ago, but I am just now able to get back to it. After three weeks and some more lessons well learned, I made it through.

Fabric: I used a red wool crepe fabric from #MoodFabrics. When I saw the fabric, I loved it. When it came in the mail, I loved it even more. It was a pleasure to work with, EXCEPT this one thing I did not know: if you use steam on this wool crepe, it burns. At first, I thought it was the high tempature burning the fabric. Instead, after turning the tempature down, the fabric was still almost pilting or buckling. When the water (steam) ran out of the iron, I realized that it was the steam because my fabric was no longer burning. All-in-all, I would purchase it again.

Making the Vest: The vest was fun to make as I like the peplum feature. If I made it again, I would probably sew together the seam a little where the peplum feature begins to give it a tidier look. all in all, just about everything was done as is. The only other change I would make is moving the button down just a tad and making the lining in the back a little shorter so that it is not all the way to the edge. I don't want you to be able to see that. Here is the pattern: Vogue 1132--it is out of print.
Making the Pants: Making the pants were really

wonderful. I plan to do more of these. They were not so easy for me because I had such a difficult time trying to get the fly correct. I might undo this part and redo it again. My zipper is all messed up. I don't know if you can see it. Everything went very well for the pants with the exception of the fly. It looks okay, but I know it is not accurate and something went horribly wrong. The instructions were not easy to follow for me. I think the first misstep was the placement of the zipper on the right side instead of the wrong side and then flipping it over and sewing the edge. Other than that, I loved the line down the front of the pant. This is what drew me to the pants in the first place. These would be great in suiting for the winter. Here is the pattern: Vogue 1366. It is also out of print.
